We are Marie and Ghyslain, two people from the Vendée who have chosen to put the rhyme agriculture and hospitality. Here at Domaine de la Coutardière, we live at the pace of the farm, the seasons… and above all, the encounters. Ghyslain is a passionate farmer. He knows each Blonde d'Aquitaine cow by name, She knows how to recognise the slightest sign in the herd, and likes to pass on her daily routine to curious visitors. Marie, I'm here to ensure that your stay is simple and pleasant, and that everything is thought out so that you can make the most of your break with family or friends.

The gîte was our first choice imagined in our heads, then renovated with our own hands. Eighteen months of work, with very few companies working alongside us, were needed to bring this building back to life. Renaissance house. The current buildings are shown on the Napoleonic cadastre of 1829, Each stone tells a story.

We wanted to preserve the soul of the place: the warmth of the old stones, the beams that have survived the centuries, and add all the modern comforts to welcome families like ours. Every detail has been designed to make you feel at home. in your home from the moment you arrive.

One farm, one passion

Beyond the gîte, we are breeders and farmers from generation to generation. Ghyslain breeds Blondes d'Aquitaine and cultivates our land for their food. Our meadows extend as far as the Vendée Poitevin Marsh, where we preserve unique landscapes. The farm has been in Ghyslain's family for several generations, and my farming roots are just as deep: my parents and grandparents, on both my mother's and father's sides, worked the land before me.

Farming is a rhythm, a passion and a responsibility. It's this same spirit that we wanted to pass on at the Domaine: respect for nature, authenticity and the transmission of knowledge.

A family adventure

Our three children are an integral part of this adventure. It's not unusual for them to be there to welcome you. They add that touch of life and spontaneity that makes the Domaine unique.

Before we created this place, our lives were going at breakneck speed. Ghyslain worked non-stop, while I ran between work, the commute and the kids. When Ghyslain's parents retired, we decided to set up our own business. slow down, to devote ourselves to what's essential: our

We live about 1 km away, on another part of our family farm. We visit La Coutardière every day to look after the animals, but the gîte and the farm have separate entrances: your stay remains totally independent.
