[Podcast] Agritourism and setting up a gîte

I told our story in Yen Bui's podcast

Summary for those in a hurry

I had the opportunity to tell our story in the Yen Bui podcast: that of a woman, a mother and a farmer who has become the host of a group gîte in the Vendée. A sincere exchange about family, agritourism, life choices and this place we've created to bring people together.

Pause for a moment, and look back at how far we've come

There are times when you feel the need to slow down. To stop. And to look back. When Yen Bui asked me to come and tell our story in her podcast, that's how I felt. An invitation to press pause, to put into words what we're going through... often without verbalising it.

Because behind a gîte, behind photos, behind a welcoming place, there's always a story. Our story.

«I will never marry a farmer».»

It was a phrase I kept repeating to myself. And yet... When I was 16, I met Ghyslain. I fell in love with the boy, then with the man. And over time, I fell in love with this life rooted in the land, the seasons and the unexpected.

We grew up together. Worked hard. Sometimes too hard. For years, we chased our tails: he at the farm, me many miles away, with children, tiredness, projects, sometimes giving up.

Two years of work, and an idea that never left us

In the podcast, I also recount this intense period. Two years of renovation. Dust. Wood. Redoing walls. Doubts too. But always the same tenacious desire: to create a place where people could come together. A place where families could come together. To celebrate. Take a breath. Create memories.

A group gîte at the heart of the farm

Today, our gîte can accommodate up to 15 people. A large gîte designed for reunions, with several bedrooms, warm spaces, a heated indoor swimming pool open all year round, and a spa.

But the heart of the estate is also our cows. The farm. Real life. Here, children can watch the calves being born, climb into the tractor with Ghyslain and ask all their questions. Without animation. No staging. Just everyday life.

Passing on, not leading“

It's an important point that I'm addressing in this episode. We never wanted to sell agricultural animation. We wanted to pass on the message. To show what farming really is. With its constraints, its joys, its rhythm. Because this reality deserves to be told. Especially to our children.

What I like about this episode

In this podcast, I talk about our balance between family, farm and tourism, my choice to change my life to join Ghyslain, our vision of agritourism, the birth of the gîte project and what this place really means to me: a refuge for creating memories.

It was a simple exchange. Real. Unfiltered.

Listen to the episode, if you feel like it

If you want to know the story behind the walls. If you're wondering how we manage to reconcile everything... or not always. If you too believe that you can build a life in line with your values. Then this episode is for you.

The Domaine de la Coutardière is not a setting. It's the logical continuation of what I'm talking about in this podcast. A group gîte in the Vendée, designed for large families, reunions, simple moments and children running around.

We live here. We breathe. We slow down.
